An Early Happy Merry Christmas thing...

Going for a haunted woods sort of thing next year. Location is moving to childhood home. Might try some subtle movement, maybe some projection. Going to start sooner as much of it will need transported in the summer. Researching old fables, mystical creatures. With the tiny pumpkin sisters I combined the heated plastic techniques with organic elements and I think that is the direction I want to take things, but on a larger scale. The twins scarecrow, the sisters, zombie girl and Patch will be returning, some with updates and refreshing. The cloaked ghost will get a refresh, everything else will be new. I like the look of the vines and trees and plan on amping that way up. I want some things unseen from the front, meaning you need to get in there to discover them. What I've learned most from the grand master is to immerse the viewer in the concept, to limit real world access, overload the senses so to speak. That and attention to detail, fine, fine attention. It is time to take the next step.

Night pics lacking

If I learn anything before next year it will be how best to light haunt, how best to get decent night shots. Next year I am changing locations, setting up at my parents house in my hometown where I started doing this as a teen. A fitting end possibly.

The night shots are terrible, but here they are for better or worse...

Going to pull some of these out over summer and mess around with some different lighting until I get it right, probably add some white spots, get to know our cameras a bit better. Overall I had an idea in my head and some things went well, others did not. The "organic" or "harvest" theme is done so well by some and masterfully by a select few, I am clearly not one of I am moving on. MAYBE a scarecrow next year...but definitely something completely different overall. Incidentally, the scarecrow I called "Raggs" was posted out front of the home, a ToT fell into the post it was on, knocking it over breaking half of it off, so he is just a grinning pumpkinhead now...but he did begin me on this journey and I was proud of him. Thanks.

Harrison Hollow '13

Feel as though the haunt improved overall, still not where I want to be design wise. Good steps, but not huge ones. 2014 or 2015 will be in Erie County, may wait til 2015, TBD. More pics, night time included, to come.

Drying in the son with "eater" corpse after getting a shot of black.

These WIP shots aren't indicative of where I'd hoped to be at this point but they are reality. Lots to do, much of which will be first time attempts. I'm glad I enjoy this so much....

...really, I do, I really do.....

Patch work...

Wanted to do something more human, little more disturbing, so "patch" was born as a simple sketch, something to maybe jolt the observer so to speak, yes, we've given you semi creepy scarecrows and kooky witches but here is a guy lashed to a post with an eye popping out, large rusty nails driven throughout and just enough gore just so you know we are serious...
